The rumours spread on the wind, soon the truth was forgotten

"So...what magic do you know?"

It was unnusually quiet in the cafe, at least for a Thursday morning. Only the pair of them and some dopaline sat alone reading the local news, probably a business worker.

Arvan sipped their tea slowly, eyes watching the dopaline across from him intently. They'd learned a lot about each other in the past few weeks, all over morning coffee. Or tea in Arven's case.

"Well, I know fire." Their purple friend explained, a rather smug smirk upon his face as he placed a paw against his chest. "And I may know another...not that you'll be knowing anytime soon~"

"And why's that?" Arven raised an eyebrow, leaning forward a bit to express his curiosity better. Ru just laughed.

"Well, it's a secret!" He leaned back in his chair to avoid his friend's forward lean, though Arven just sat back up with a smile. Ru could see disappointment in his eyes.

"You don't trust me with your secrets?" That disappointment was replaced with a teasing glint rather quickly, Arven's tea sat forgotten on a coaster. "I'm hurt!"

"Well, don't be." The fluffier of the pair replied with a roll of his eyes, "Besides, you haven't told me what you've mastered!"

"Wind." Arven's reply came a bit quicker than he would've liked, what if Ru thought he was lying? He figured to prove it he'd send a quick gust of wind through the other's fur, he seemed warm anyway. "I'm learning Gravity too, it's proving to be quite fun so far. My dad - the librarian one - told me that it's good for dealing with people that forget a library's supposed to be peaceful."

"Surely Sound's better for that?"

"Perhaps~" Arven leaned back in their seat. The magic conversation definitely seemed to have Ru's attention, he liked that - the way he stared at him, waiting for what he next said. They found it cute.

Not that they'd ever admit that.
