What is Magic?

Now public opinion on magic varies. Some say it’s a dop’s best pal, your bread and butter, you’d be insane not to learn it! Others, however, believe it to merely be a tool for chores, making dopals and perhaps the odd job or two. You’ve got your magic fanatics and your casual magic enjoyers, but nobody can deny that magic is a concept every dopaline should at least be aware of.

Whatever magic actually is(do even our greatest scientists know? Miles get on that-), it has a heavy link with gears. Gears, y’know, those things that keep your dopalines alive! Why, you ask? I dunno, this is a magic lesson not a science lesson! Some think gears produce a hormone that aids in a dop’s body functioning properly though, maybe it helps them process and use the bound’s magical energy?

Key Notes to Preface

Your dopaline must be a TEEN to learn magic! Them kids gotta grow first!

Dopalines MUST have a functioning gear in order to learn magic!

There’s no limit to the amount of magic you can learn, you can catch ‘em all if you like! Just make sure you keep those cooldowns in mind! Cooldowns are per dopal, so while one’s on cooldown you can tackle some magic with another!

The cooldown starts when the submission is accepted. Luckily, this shouldn’t take too long!

When your Dopaline uses magic, their gear(s) GLOW! They glow the color of the magic type, which can be seen at the top of every element page in a scribble square!

The Fun Part

Each type of magic has various skills you can learn and master, and they come in three levels: Basic, Advanced, and Professional. As you progress through the levels, the requirements may increase, but the magic you learn will be much more powerful!

As long as your submission meets the requirements, your dopal will now have that magic skill once it’s approved and they can move onto the next one!

Below is the list of art requirements for each level of magic:

Basic

Cooldown: 1 Day

Drawing Req.(No Double Gear): At least 1 Simple Shaded Fullbody

Drawing Req.(Double Gear): At least 1 Flat Fullbody

Advanced

Cooldown: 2 Days

Drawing Req.(No Double Gear): 2 Images - At least 1 Complex Shaded Fullbody and a Simple Background

Drawing Req.(Double Gear): 1 Image - At least 1 Complex Shaded Fullbody and a Simple Background

Professional

Cooldown: 3 Days

Drawing Req.(No Double Gear): 3 Images - 2 Complex Shaded Fullbodies(Don't have to be interacting) and a complex background

Drawing Req.(Double Gear): 2 Images - 2 Complex Shaded Fullbodies(Don't have to be interacting) and a complex background

IMPORTANT NOTE!

Cooldowns are per skill, NOT per image. Your cooldown will start once you have learnt the skill.

Your dopaline can learn as much magic as they want. They could master all of them, master one and pick up a few skills from others, or just learn scattered skills in general!

Basic skills can be learned in any order, and any higher level skills can be learned as long as you've learnt their prerequisites!

Additionally!

Drawing Requirements can be replaced with the EXP equivalent or greater!!

Collaborating

Here in the bound, we of course encourage collaboration! If you split the workload between yourself and another user and depict your dopalines learning magic together(it doesn’t even have to be the same magic!), then they will both learn the skill they’re learning and go on the appropriate cooldown.

Levels of Magic

Some upgrades require certain 'magic levels', these are just a way to count how many skills your dopaline has learned! If you have learned 2 basic wind skills, your dopaline is Wind Magic LVL 2, if they've learned 1 basic and 1 advanced, they're still level 2.

Don't know where to start?

We've got you covered! Occasionally, Magic Classes will be opened up, where you and other members will be encouraged to learn a specific magic together!
