Water
The pirate's life for me
Water magic is one of the most common elemental magic elements alongside fire, this element suits all, whether they be graceful, stern or chill, water is fluid and able to fit with most all personalities!

This element tends to be focused around the manipulation of water and the various things you can do with it. Water can be incredibly powerful, and dangerous, so although at lower levels it may seem childish, it can quickly grow to pack a punch.
BASIC SKILLS
Liquid Manipulation
Desc: One of the easiest water skills is simply bending the liquid to your will! As water flows and shapes itself to fit its container, it also allows itself to have its flow shifted and shaped by a dopaline. This skill has plenty of uses - entertainment, firefighting, regular fighting, you name it!

Learning: Dopalines learning this skill may try to find a body of water, or simply pour some into a cup and use that, as they can then focus on moving the liquid from its original location.
Limits/Risks: Dopals are only able to lift and move the water at basic level, as while it’s easy enough to manipulate, it’s a little too loose to hold a specific form without more effort and experience needed.
Bubble Creation
Desc: An easy followup from liquid manipulation, creating hollow bubbles of water is almost equally as easy! Many like to use this skill for entertainment, especially for keeping young dopals occupied! Some who don’t intend on learning much water magic may still learn this skill to save money on bubble blowers!

Learning: One fun warmup exercise may be to sit so your mouth is under the water, then exhale! This’ll create bubbles, and you’ll be able to observe how they work. Afterwards, the best way to do this is to get a cup or otherwise small amount of water, and imagine its weight ebbing away as the remaining water becomes a small, weightless, hollow ball.
Limits/Risks: It’s much easier to make several small bubbles rather than one big one, and it’s even harder to shape said bubbles without the Shape Liquid skill. It’s often recommended to keep it small and simple first, then make bigger bubbles when you’re more experienced!
Limits/Risks: At basic level, this ability isn’t the most accurate, and one may struggle to find impurities in liquids that aren’t water. It’s also not the most useful if you don’t learn much past this skill, as if someone’s poisoned your drink, well you can’t exactly do much about it without looking suspicious.
Purity Check
Desc: A spy walks into a room with the enemy, ready for a friendly ‘chat’. But they know the enemy, and they know that they’d take every opportunity to take out their opponent. As expected, the refreshments are less than refreshing...
In everyday life, dopalines may use this ability when camping to make sure they’ve purified their drinking water enough, or to quickly find out if there’s a problem with the piping to their house. Some may also use it to identify issues with the local water supply, which can lead to solutions being found much quicker than they would without this ability.

Learning: Dopalines learning this ability tend to get two cups of water, one pure and one with some sort of impurity, both cups indistinguishable to the naked eye.. They then compare the two of them, focus on the water, and identify the impure water, often in a fun guessing game with friends. The impurity tends to be harmless so they can test their answer and see if they were correct.
Temperature Change
Desc: his skill is often used in pranks and everyday life, as well as for living out in the wild. The ability to heat or chill water is quite useful, as it can help with purifying it before you learn to completely purify water without need for heat, and it can easily re-chill a cool drink on a hot day.

Learning: Learning this skill is quite easy, simply take a cup of water and concentrate on the temperature you want it to be. Some may find it more interesting to warm or chill a puddle or stream, but it doesn’t really matter in the end as long as you get the same result.
Limits/Risks: At basic level, you can’t make water scalding or freezing, just warm or cool. This skill also can’t change the state of the water, however at later levels you can get it hot or cold enough to do so without the state actually changing...? Odd.
ADVANCED SKILLS
Purify
PREREQUISITE: Purity Check
Limits/Risks: It may be harder to purify a liquid depending on just how impure it is, or how much of the impurity is there. For example, you could remove poison from water pretty easily(unless it’s designed against this skill), but you’d have an extremely hard time trying to remove oil from the same water. Difficulty also depends on if the material you’re removing from the water has dissolved in it or not, and in purifying the water, you destroy the impure material.
Desc: The spy has identified the poison within their drink, and with a wave of their paw, foils the enemy’s plans once again. It seems the enemy hasn’t noticed, as they grin upon seeing the spy drink the poison as though it’s just regular water! Soon they’ll be convulsing on the floor…

Everyday use of purify is typically an easy followup from purity check - you found the problem, get rid of the problem! It’s also a useful hiking or camping trick, why bring a water bottle or all the equipment usually needed to purify water when you can just do it with your hands?

Learning: You can learn this trick much the same way you learn Purity Check, except rather than comparing them, you’re examining the pure water and trying to focus that same purity into the tainted water. Drink the pure water, focus on its taste, and try to imagine the other water being that way too.
Shape Liquid
PREREQUISITE: Liquid Manipulation
Desc: Well you know how to manipulate liquid, the simple next step is actually shaping it! Used by many entertainers that may prefer not to use fire, or conspiracy theorists in need of a visual for the giant sea monster they totally saw last week they swear! Plus, it’s a useful skill for bored dopalines with nothing but a cup of water at their paws.

Learning: Take that puddle or cup of water from before and think of a shape. Hopefully, the water will take that form. It’s much easier to do this while holding the water in the air.
Limits/Risks: Much like with shaping fire, it’s harder to wrangle water into complex shapes and details. It’s hard enough to shape it into basic shapes, and if you’re easily frustrated, you may just end up soaked and annoyed.
Limits/Risks: The bubble cage isn’t indestructible, and takes a lot of energy to keep going. It’s also extremely difficult to have more than one bubble cage in existence at one time, at least until Professional level, so it’s advised to start with one and work your way up as you get more experienced.
Bubble Cage
PREREQUISITE: Bubble Creation
Desc: A bubble with a hardened surface often used as a defensive measure or fun prank, many dopalines tend to learn this skill just for its utility - for example, it can be the perfect way to stop a young dopal from endangering themselves, yet it can also prevent a criminal’s escape if you’re quick enough!

Learning: Dops learning this skill tend to create a bubble first, then focus on trying to harden it. Many find that imagining it as a hollow egg can help, though some prefer to think of it as a steel ball, as an egg would just amuse them and possibly mishape the bubble. It’s also advised to utilise the shape water ability to shape the bubble around yourself, though starting small with a bubble you can watch is still a good approach.
Water Walk
PREREQUISITE: Liquid Manipulation
Desc: Perfect for traversing large bodies of water, why swim when you can just keep walking? Though it is advised you learn to swim before learning this skill. It’s typically just used for uninterrupted mobility, but it’s also helpful for trying to find dopals and items in flooded areas. It’s also good for if you drop your hat in a river and don’t want to get your clothes soaked, but don’t want to strip in front of your mates!

Learning: Many like to start with a puddle and place a paw on that until it stops sinking. With larger bodies of water, it’s advised to treat it like walking on ice, and always have something to hold onto - perhaps a dopal with wings, or just a more experienced water magic user.
Limits/Risks: Keeping yourself afloat on larger bodies of water can become exhausting, so it’s not really advised for trips across the ocean. Also, the soles of your feet will still get wet, but it’s easier to travel barefoot than it is with shoes.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Bubble Blast
Desc: Primarily used for combative purposes, the ability to make bubbles that can then burst into scalding droplets of water is a useful and highly damaging skill, a must have if you really want to…turn the tide in a fight.

Learning: This skill is one where you can really let your ire out. The best method for learning it is to first create a bubble, then focus on increasing its temperature. Think about everything that’s made you angry lately, and focus all that anger into the bubble, until you think you might just burst with anger. At that point, the bubble ought to have been the one bursting.
PREREQUISITES: Temperature Change & Bubble Cage
Limits/Risks: Due to this skill’s volatile and harmful nature, it’s not exactly advised to learn or use it. Using it impulsively could quite easily result in you or another dopaline’s injury, and burn scars aren’t really the most attractive!
Water Guardian
PREREQUISITES: Liquid Manipulation & Shape Liquid
Desc: From the palm of your hand spawns a friendly creature, shaped to your will - it could be a riggeling, shapeless blob, anything you can think of, though typically nothing complex. For the duration of its existence, it can aid you in whatever you summoned it for - typically getting out of a rather violent situation.

Learning: Dopalines learning this skill often have a pet or other dopal in front of them for a visual, though generally how the guardian looks isn’t their main focus. Some adrenaline junkies may use this as an opportunity to put themselves in the face of danger in hopes it’ll bring out their guardian, though some may just stick to LARPing with friends for the same effect.
Limits/Risks: It consumes a large amount of energy to keep a water guardian up for longer than an hour. The guardian cannot communicate, and can’t really do much other than fight or small menial tasks. In combat, the water guardian will only be able to use water abilities the dopaline has, as well as a few smaller abilities of its own.
State Shift
PREREQUISITES: Temperature Change & Shape Liquid
Desc: Perfect for dealing with floods, getting your drink on the rocks for free(though the bartender might not be too pleased) and turning ice or steam to water if you just need a quick glass but don’t have access to a tap!

Learning: Dopalines learning this skill tend to get a cup of water and focus on changing its temperature the way they want, then changing its shape to match its intended state - solid cube for ice, shapeless mist for steam! This is easiest to do with water, but adventurous dops may try to state change other liquids!
Limits/Risks: It’s tiring to shift states constantly in quick succession. It’s also much more difficult to switch the state of liquids with higher boiling or lower melting points and otherwise properties that differ greatly to standard water!
